Audit Partner Named 40 Under Forty Honoree

Joseph E. Rocco III Has Been Selected as a 40 Under Forty Honoree

Congratulations to our very own Joe Rocco, CPA, Audit Partner, who has been selected as one of the honorees for the CNY Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty Awards!

“I’d like to thank the CNY Business Journal for the consideration and recognition as a 40 under forty honoree,” Joe said.  “I’ve always believed that if you surround yourself with good people, they will help you reach your goals and lead you to successes in life.  I know I wouldn’t be recognized for this award if it wasn’t for all the leadership, wisdom and advice I’ve received throughout my career since day one, especially from my colleagues and partners here at Bowers.”

The 40 Under Forty Awards recognizes 40 people under the age of 40 who have excelled and made a difference in the workplace and in the community. Joe was a clear candidate for the award because of his career achievements, demonstrated leadership and community involvement.

About Joe

Joe started his successful 13-year career to date in public accounting with a Big 4 accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston, MA. He specialized in financial services, the largest assurance group at PwC, where he managed multiple teams servicing global clients.

Joe moved back to Syracuse to be closer to relatives and friends and joined Bowers & Company CPAs in 2019. He was named an Audit Partner in January 2021. At Bowers & Company CPAs, Joe specializes in concentrations including:

  • Financial Institutions
  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation
  • Not For Profit

Joe is also involved in multiple special projects at Bowers & Company including working with organizations in proposing and overseeing the implementation of internal controls and process/system-improvements to help improve efficiency and reduce operational risks, as well as working exclusively with clients in performing buy and sell side financial due diligence. He is also a leader as part of the Bowers & Company Technology Committee

 Community Service

Joe serves his community by contributing in a variety of ways. Recently, he joined the Leadership Greater Syracuse, Class of 2021, which is focused on inspiring current and future leaders to make a difference in the community where we live and work.

In addition, Joe is a parishioner at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Manlius, NY, and an active member with the Junior Achievement Program, which helps to educate students about financial literacy. Joe is very involved in serving his community including through Little League Baseball, where he has coached and mentored for 15+ years.

The future is bright for Joe as he continues his partnership at Bowers and Company CPAs. He has consistently been recognized as a leader over his tenure and has played instrumental roles in creating productive, positive and a “one-team” culture that challenge team members to achieve their fullest potential. He has been recognized by his peers for high emotional intelligence and an uncanny ability to build trust with team, clients, stakeholders and colleagues. He is frequently called on to navigate difficult situations and successfully achieve intended goals.

Joe’s goals are to continue to mentor staff at the firm, retain local talent in the Syracuse market and promote the return to the greater Syracuse area to many young professionals who may have started their careers away from home.

Join Us in Congratulating Joe on this Well-Deserved Achievement!

Bowers would also like to congratulate the rest of the 40 Under Forty Honorees.
