Community Involvement
Bowers has a unique quality for a firm of its size:
All of our Partners reside in Central, Northern, and Western New York. They prioritize investing in the communities they work and live in.
We have a long history of supporting and encouraging staff to volunteer for local boards and organizations.
Not-for-profit organizations serve our community’s most vulnerable populations. Bowers encourage such strong local Board and Committee contributions for exactly that reason, to be sure organizations that serve the most vulnerable do not go extinct or become vulnerable themselves.
As a not-for-profit organization, it is critical to have a good Board Treasurer and Finance Committee because they implement internal controls and best practices that maximize the output of services and guarantee public dollars are spent appropriately. The support of good a Treasurer and Finance Committee also guarantees top notch financial statements which are key for submitting grant applications and ensuring the organization follows state and federal statutes to maintain its 501(c)-3 status. Without proper internal controls and accounting and procedural policies, organizations would be unable to secure appropriate funds to execute their mission.
Bowers encourages all team members to take VTO or Volunteer Time Off, which staff can utilize to spend “working hours” volunteering and engaging in community activities. This time can be used for existing personal volunteer commitments or to participate in Firm organized volunteer activities coordinated to provide younger staff more exposure to the needs within the community.
We are proud of our communities, our employees, and our dedication to community action. Here are some of the incredible, impactful organizations we support:
